4 Steps To A Successful Practice

Not sure if you're making the most of CoachThem? Here’s a simple guide to help you check off the essentials and run more efficient, organized practices.

1. Plan Practice

Have a purpose for everything you do as a Coach. Don't use a drill to take up time. Think BIGGER!

  • What happened last game?
  • What are your goals for the next game?
  • What are your season goals?

Either way, skill and skating development should be incorporated but, most of all, make it FUN! You can have fun while working hard!

2. Create Practice

Now that you have all your drills added to CoachThem, we can begin.

In Plans, add your drills from your personal, team, association, marketplace or any shared folder by selecting + icon.

Click plus icon to add sports practice drill to the practice plan

Pay attention to the flow of the practice, and reorder any drills using the drag icon.

Add Tags to Store your Plans or Drill and Make Quick Notes

All of your plans in your personal folder are private, just like in drills. They don't become shared until you Share them.

3. Share with Coaches

You've created that perfect practice; now what?

Get your coaches on the same page! Too often, coaches show up with drills written down on paper or napkins. You have a great practice plan; now, get your coaches prepared. Let's share it!

Load your plan and select the Share icon.

Share Plan with Coach Group or Association

Your options are to share with a Coach, Group, Association, or Team.

Share your Practice Plan with a Coach Group Association Team

Being a part of an association automatically creates a team for you. If not, you have to set up your team. A team that is created outside an association is called a group. To create a group, select the + on the drills page and in the drills right panel.

Then, add your coaches. You can pay for all your coaches in your account, under subscriptions.

4. Run Practice

Now we're ready!

Have your coaches prepared for practice before they arrive at the rink. The discussion will be less about what the drills are and more about the detailed questions of where should the stick placement be.

Bringing your smartphone on the ice or field with the CoachThem iOS App keeps your coaches one step ahead. With our sports coaching software, your team can seamlessly transition between hockey coaching drills, soccer training plans, and lacrosse team coaching tools—maximizing every minute of practice.
