CoachThem partners with OMHA to provide valuable coaching resources

Last week, CoachThem announced a partnership with the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) to enhance the resources available to youth coaches across the province.

CoachThem will provide tools to make practice planning and drill creation more efficient and effective, improving how coaches lead their respective teams. The digital platform’s toolbox facilitates collaboration between coaches, streamlines communication between coaches and players both on and off the ice, and enables coaches to build stronger and more meaningful connections with their athletes throughout the season.

CoachThem brings coaching from the whiteboard to the smartphone,” said Ian Taylor, Executive Director of the OMHA. “Today’s players are used to learning in a digital world, and CoachThem does a great job of helping coaches communicate their practice plans and lessons with their teams.

The partnership also signaled the launch of several initiatives focused on coaching assets.

CoachThem will serve as presenting sponsor of the OMHA’s Video Coach series, which analyzes a video clip from game action and then breaks down the sequence into frames, identifying key skills, individual and team tactics, strategy, and hockey IQ. A Drill of the Week series will also provide new drill ideas for coaches to incorporate into their practice plans.

All drills shared through the Video Coach and Drill of the Week campaigns will be available on CoachThem, and easily accessible through an exclusive OMHA coaches' group.

In addition, CoachThem will be the title sponsor of Breakaway, The Minor Hockey Podcast, which recently released the season’s first episode featuring Kitchener Rangers general manager and interim head coach, Mike McKenzie. Now in its sixth season, Breakaway connects coaches with leaders in hockey to discuss everything from goal scoring to how to grow and promote the game.

Our goal from day one was to make coaches’ lives easier,” said Mike Weaver, CEO & Co-Founder of CoachThem. “In partnering with the OMHA, we’re excited to collaborate with the leaders in our sport to educate our youth’s coaches and provide them with resources to better teach their players.

Finalizing our partnership, CoachThem will be offering a discounted subscription rate for all OMHA coaches, making using the platform and accompanying resources both accessible and affordable.
